The art of fooling around
Courtesy of the Museum of Hoaxes, here’s a list of The Top 100 April Fool’s Day Hoaxes of All Time. The site also explains the history of April Fool’s Day, offers a chronological index of hoaxes from 1698 to 2005, as well as an essay on reasons to hate the observance.
Some of my favorite hoaxes: The Swiss Spaghetti Harvest, The Left-Handed Whopper, Arm the Homeless, and Drunk Driving on the Internet.
To celebrate further, join the the 23rd Annual April Fools’ Day Parade. The parade will march down Fifth Avenue from 59th Street beginning at 12 noon, Tuesday, April 1st, 2008. The parade route has changed temporarily due to construction in Washington Square Park. This year the parade will detour east across Fourteenth Street to Union Square where the post-parade festivities will begin.
Click here for a big collection of April Fool’s Day pranks or visit PrankPlace.com for some outrageous gags.
And be sure to visit the National Geographic website where they highlight some of history’s greatest hoaxes.
This year, don’t be taken for a sucker by the media. Arm yourself with The April Fools’ Day Defense Kit.

I got around April Fool without falling for too many hoaxes and tricks. I guess it’s mission accomplished.
