Weekend Paragliding Adventure!

This weekend 13 of my friends and I jumped off the mountain at Sky Shishiku for charity!  We were raising money through JustGiving for Cambodian street kids.  We ended up raising over 2200 British pounds using the website and taking donations from our friends and co-workers.

Our cabin-de-luxe. I think we were the first people to stay here this season. It was clean, spacey and just awesome! There were 4 or 5 cabins, each with its own nature-themed old-snowboard name plate!

The spectacular sunset we saw as we grilled our dinner. It was a spectacular evening, just a little chilly to make us grateful for the warm campfire. It was made even better by our friend with the guitar singing old-school campfire songs!

The colors ran all through the rainbow as the sun sank slowly towards the horizon...

The next morning dawned bright and clear with a nice breeze blowing up the mountain!

A lonely parachute waiting for its owner, longing for the sky maybe?

I was amazed at the amount of strings and lines that hold those parachutes up. How did they keep them untangled???

Liftoff achieved! The wind was actually getting too strong at this point, the pro. paragliders said the wind could lift us to twice the height of the mountain, letting you travel over 100 kilometers if you wanted to!

My partner was the All-Japan Paragliding champion and he spoke amazing English! We had a lot of fun chatting. He said he started selling paragliders when he was 18 and never looked back. What an amazing job!
